Natural Elements

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Just found a good copy of the Natural Elements song I posted before.
Natural Elements - Tri-Boro

What your album lack is more Jay-Z

It' about time we got some more Jay-Z in here, and I'm guessing you other clowns aren't going to do anything about it, so here we go. Some of my harder to find and favorite Jigga songs. These have been approved for all rap nerds, so stop making that face and click the pretty blue words.

1. Streets Is Watching (Dirty) - This one had me searching for about ten years...first heard it on a Tony Touch tape (#58, I think), and it was only available on a promo single with 'Sunshine' on the A side. I don't know why they put the clean version on the album; that shit really pisses me off. Of course now it's not so hard to find the dirty version, but it's still a gem, haters.

2.Dig A Hole (Original) - I have no idea where this came from, but it's a waaaaaay better version of the track from Kingdom Come. Just Blaze is very hit and miss with me, but I can't believe they left this one of the album.

3. Dead Presidents III - This one's from the bonus disc that came with Kingdom Come - not really rare, but in case ya missed it...

4. Get My Shit Off - Timbaland & Jigga; this one never saw a proper release. Get it now if ya missed it, suckas.

5. In My Lifetime (Original Ski Version) - from '95 (his first solo 12"?) With still some traces of the Hawaiian Sophie flow, our young Jigga starts maturing:

"
While niggaz are shootin' stupid I'm carefully plottin', ways to make it rotten, Well planned hits until you're long forgotten,Y'all niggaz that utilize my style don't hurt me, cause on the low half of these rappin'-ass niggaz wanna work for me"

Slow Flow

It took a while for me to give in to the new school methods. I still like to think I am old school like that but in truth I ain't any more. I got Serato scratch live about 9 months ago. No more records, what do I spend my money on now?

This is the first tape/mp3 I made with Serato. It was pretty much all live with a few big F*%# Ups cut out. Hence, it's a bit rough around the edges. Yeah, excuses! Drew stepped up the game with dope artwork for the cover for his tapes so I had get my art on.

Indeed.

Slow Flow

1 Mr.Slow Flow - Evidence
2 Snap Yo Fingaz (Instra) - Lil Jon
3 Fuck The Law - Dead Prez
4 Roc-A-Fella Billionaires - Freeway feat Jay Z
5 Gold Chain Music - Bumrush Brothers
6 At Your Door - Clipse Feat Roscoe P, Coldchain and Pharrell.
7 The Riddler - Methodman.
8 Beef - Mos Def

I know my breath stink, bitch, back up!

What with the internets and everything nowadays, it's can be tempting to amass a ridiculous amount of music and you can track down pretty much anything, making those once highly coveted singles available to everybody. Obviously I wouldn't complain about that, but amid all the collecting and compiling, some gems get lost, overlooked or just forgotten.

So today I'm calling on you groupies, fans, well-wishers and so-called contributors to take a sec and think back: What are some of your favorites that you think we might've lost, overlooked or forgotten?

1. King Tee & Phil Da Agony - Back Up (Joey Chavez Mix)

I gotta point out that this is the original track, beat by Joey Chavez & cuts by Babu, not the uncharacteristically wack Creators remix. Not really a song that makes you think, but with these guys it's all about delivery.

2. Natural Elements - Tri-Boro

This version is from the mix cd DJ Eclipse of Non-Phixion fame did in'98, so there are some cuts on it. When these guys get good beats they always rip it...and this one's fiyyaaahhhhhh!!! Well, not really but it is good; I think DJ Honda used the same sample on 'Real To Me'. The only other place the song appeared was on a single with a couple other tracks from this mix; it's one of the few songs that I've never been able to find.

3. All Natural - Stellar

One year I was asked what I wanted for Christmas and I asked for Natural Elements or Natural Resource records. You see, Ottawa wasn't exactly a hotbed for underground hip-hop, and the internet wasn't the bootlegging heaven that it is now, so my sister, coming from Chicago, was my only hope. When I opened my record-shaped present and found All Natural, I instantly assumed she got the name wrong and brought me some generic garbage. Then she told me that her friend had recommended them, but I remained skeptical until I had a chance to listen...hahaha...that doesn't sound like me.

4. Mau Maus - Blak Iz Blak

If you're not one of the 14 people that saw 'Bamboozled', you probably missed this one. Mau Maus is Mos Def, Canibus, Charli Baltimore, Gano "God-shoved-a-pool-cue-in-my-ass" Grills, Mums and MC Serch.

5. Aceyalone, Self Jupiter & P.E.A.C.E. - When The Sun Too A Day Off

I love the eerie vibe...like when you shut off the lights on one side of the room then have to run to the door on the other side before the monsters get you.

Jambox

"Fat boy, big jeans, MAC-10 in the vest/ With Mack 10 shoot scenes try to shoot up the set/ But I'm a G nigga, I loosen the TEC/ Wet the whole block shit, Grey Goose in the jet, pyoooooon/ Back to the Boogie/ Backpack rappers, they should have a plaque in the Boogie of me"

Just finished off another mix, this time mostly new-ish stuff: some new joints from some old dudes and some from guys I hadn't really listened to before now. I did it up proper rap-nerd style, with 2 tracks (Side A & Side B) and before you complain, I realize Side A is too long for a 90 minute tape, but you haven't used your walkman in years, so shut up.

Just for Ari & Pady I kept Jigga down to one song (ok, and one verse), and as if that wasn't enough I got Vast Aire AND Doom on there too.

Part 1
Part 2

Tight like hallways, smoked out always

This is a quick mix I originally put together for Dan's ig'nant ass, but I've been bumping it steady so I figured I'd post it for the rest of the nerds.

Goodie MOb. was the first group that had me checking for shit outside the east coast (besides Tha Liks, Digital Underground & Tone Loc, of course). Looking back now, I don't know what I was thinking, but I didn't wanna hear anything west of Philly. Then I heard was 'Decisions, Decisions' off the Soul Assassins album and holy shit, there was good music outside of Queensbridge & Shaolin.

At that point I was obviously a little late to the party, but from Atlanta, out to L.A. and finally back to Houston, Goodie MOb. & OutKast opened up my eyes, er...ears, and I check for guys like Rick Ross & Ludacris today because of 'em.

Remember nerds, ya gotta keep it scientific.

"Well, I'm from the dirty, filthy nasty dirty south /So many niggas still think we soft /And I swore, I wouldn't never write no rhyme like this /But now you're startin to piss me off, ha ha ha"

Welcome to Rap Nerds

Just to get an idea of what we're workin with here, I'm gonna kick things off (that one's for Dan) with a little lyrics quiz. Match the football references to the emcees, rap nerds. Five outta five gets you a sticker...

Hint: One emcee has 2 lyrics.
